Fetchnotes – A Simple Note-Taking App Inspired by Twitter

fetchnotes

fetchnotes is a new notes-taking app for iPhone and iPod touch, which seems to be inspired by Twitter.

While there are quite a few apps such as Evernote (App Store link) or Simplenote (App Store link) that do the job very well, FetchNotes has approached the problem of capturing notes in a new and refreshing way, which Twitter users might find more intuitive.

Alex Schiff co-founder of FetchNotes explains (via TechCrunch):

“task management or to-do apps force you into this rigid structure about how you’re supposed to get things done or that you’re only supposed to use this for to-do’s, whereas what we’ve done is we’ve created a very flexible application that allows you to write your own use cases,”

fetchnotes offers users with a simple user interface. Tap on the + button to start writing a new note and use a hashtag to categorize it - an idea inspired by Twitter. As Schiff has mentioned, it seems a lot more intuitive and faster to hashtag a note when you're tying it.

In the next update, users will be able to send notes to other fetchnote users using @username - another idea borrowed from Twitter.

You can also access your notes on your computer using FetchNotes web app, which like the iPhone app offers a simple user interface.

Though the user interface of the iPhone is simple and intuitive, the developer have some work to do to iron out the rough edges (the sign up text couldn't have been smaller and more touch unfriendly). We also had trouble signing up for the service as it didn't tell us that the username that we were trying to signup with, was not available.

But we really liked the concept behind the app and if the developers can improve the user interface, it can be one of the popular apps for taking notes, especially among Twitter users.

fetchnotes is available in the App Store for free and you can download it using this App Store link.
